The Tutelo Nahyssan Tribal Nation of Ohio has been a historical part of the community within the tri-county area of Kilvert (Athens), Chesterhill (Morgan), and Cutler (Washington). It has been our tribal homeland for centuries. At one time we were known as the Kilvert or Cutler Indians. However, we found that the public needed to be updated as to our journey for federal acknowledgment.

Two entities have been founded to help us on this journey to federal acknowledgment:

The Research and Identification of Early Occupancy of Southern Ohio (RIEOSO)

The Research and Identification of Early Occupancy of Southern Ohio (RIEOSO) is a genealogy research center established by the Federal Creek Indian Organization to document the existence of the Native American tribes of Ohio who have long been overlooked by the principal culture of the region. Our purpose and research is to help with the growth and understanding of the tribes in Ohio and following their journey as original and remnant tribes. These groups survived with their culture, community, and traditions intact. RIEOSO strives to support the social and economic advancement of Native Americans in Ohio while promoting understanding and cooperation with the larger community.

Federal Creek Indian Organization of Ohio

We the Federal Creek Indian Organization of Ohio (FCIOO) dedicate ourselves to preserve and maintain the American Indian heritage that has been bestowed upon a unique and distinct people of history. To enhance the diverse community, and all aspects, to maintain the welfare of the territory of the united peoples land. Remain united, and strong and pass on the birth rights of our cultural traditions. To inform at best the majority of individuals of our historical descendants of Indian tribes that have been undefined for generations. FCIOO currently provides member services and community events at the Cutler Community Center.
